Returning from Australia

I’m sitting at a free internet computer in Singapore, waiting for my flight to Frankfurt, and then back to Brussels. I’ve been with SunCorp, one of our Australian customers, to talk about Scriptura.

I’ve only seen Brisbane for the couple of days I worked there. Saturday, we had a day off, and someone we met at SunCorp took us to a 4WD track somewhere west of TooWoomba. It was a great day, we had outdoor barbeque, and didn’t get bogged one time.

Two of my collegues joined us, this was their first offroad experience. And it took them a while to feel comfortable driving up and down the very steep and very high hills. But after an hour orso, they were as comfortable as I was with our driver, who had obviously done this more ofther.

It was with a ‘91 Land Cruiser, with a 4.2 Diesel engine, and a full set of ARB differential lockers. It was the first time I experienced a car that could totally lock all differential, and it really impressed me. I need to get myself a set as well, although I’m not sure they are available for my car yet. In a couple of years, when my car has aged enough to do more serious offroading, I’m sure they’ll be available.

Even with all the interesting and fun new things we did this week, I’m missing Anders and Joke. More than I had expected… Glad to be heading home. After this 28 hour trip, and a jetlag of 9 hours instead of the expected 8 hours (in Belgium, daylight savings time stopped last night), I’ll be glad see my family again!
