Last fm Lacking Mood or Environment setting
The last couple of days I’ve been using Last.fm quite a lot. I start to like it more and more. In some cases, it sees similarities in tracks I don’t see, leading to some suggestions I banned or skipped. I especially like the Duyster’s Similar Artists. Although Duyster is not an artist, but a Radio Program on the best radio station in the world (using the best content management system in the world for their website).
One feature I miss is the ability to set the ‘mood’ or ‘environment’ I’m in. I prefer different kinds of music depending on my mood or my environment. When I’m reading, cooking, working, hoovering or surfing the web, every time I prefer some other music. Banning a track because it is too noisy for work doesn’t mean that I don’t want to hear it while I’m cooking. So in addition to the ‘mood’ setting, I’d like an extra button to ‘ban the song in this mood’. I tried to use tags for representing the mood, but that doesn’t work, as I have to tag every song that is played instead of all the songs automatically.
The worst part is that I explained my wife how Last.fm works. She just uses my account. And she likes Robbie Williams. And I don’t. I hate him… (Luckily she doesn’t read my blog.) I think I’ll need to lock my computer while I’m at home as well.
